7 new AI features coming to Google Workspace

During the Google I/O keynote on Wednesday, the company announced a few new AI-based features that will be coming to Google Workspace. The Mountain View tech giant wants to make it easier to summarise information on Google Workspace apps like Docs through machine learning. You will soon also see improved video quality when holding meetings on Google Meet. Here are 7 upcoming features on Google Workspace.

Portrait restore

Portrait restore uses Google’s AI technology to improve the video calling whether you are sitting in a dimly lit room or using an old webcam. The feature will automatically enhance the video quality so that you can have an improved Google Meet experience.

Portrait light

Portrait light, on the other hand, uses machine learning to improve the lighting in your video feed. You will be able to adjust lighting position and brightness in real-time, so that you can show your best appearance in a video.

This feature filters out echoes in spaces with hard surfaces, so your sound is clear in any environment.

Live sharing

Live sharing is an upcoming feature that will sync content that’s being shared in a Google Meet call and allow participants to control the media.

Automated summaries

Google introduced automated built-in summaries for Google Docs earlier this year. The company is now bringing the auto-summaries feature to Spaces to help users get the gist of long conversations.

Automated transcriptions

Google is also bringing automated transcriptions of Google Meet meetings to Google Workspace, allowing people to catch up on meetings they could not attend.

Security protection

The security protections Google offers for Gmail will also be coming to Google Slides, Docs, and Sheets. Google says that one of the features will include alerting users about phishing links or malware before opening a Doc.

These new AI features are expected to come to Google Workspace in the coming months.
